Overview

As luxury condominiums expand into the East Village, we can expect to see more copies of the Toll Brothers’ utilitarian high-rise building located at 110 Third Avenue. Described as Mondrian in style, architects at Greenberg-Farrow designed this glass and steel building to have a great deal of utility. Though its design lacks uniqueness, realtors at Halstead Property have gone to contract on all but one of the building’s 77 units before occupancy even begins this summer. In contrast, Bernard Tschumi’s ambitious yet ostentatious Blue Condo, located at 105 Norfolk Street in the nearby Lower East Side, remains 80% vacant though occupancy began at the end of 2006, a testament to the Toll Brothers solid real estate eye.
