16w21 Street is a sliver-thin building located on 21st Street near Sixth Avenue, on the strip historically known as Ladies Mile thanks to the bevy of department store buildings that line the avenue. The building stretches 14 stories high, and boasts a façade made entirely of glass materials. Arranged according to classical proportions, the columns, spandrels and cornice will be constructed from frosted glass. 16w21 is striving for LEED Gold certification, with new energy technologies, water efficient systems and innovative design.
The building will contain 9 full floor luxury loft residences, a garden level duplex and a penthouse triplex. The building itself is white on white, which provides a perfect canvas for beloved New York fashion designer Zac Posen’s sexy and colorful interior design.
Located between Fifth and Sixth avenues, architect Morris Adjmi is responsible for the building, which is being developed by F&T Group with an assist from Gruppo C’E. As mentioned above, Posen has been brought on to do the interiors. This will be Posen’s first foray into interior design. 16w21 has taken great pains to make sure that their modern offerings strike a balance between human comfort and ecologically careful, taking into account both the way New Yorkers like to live and the “public responsibility” to take care of our planet.
It also must be noted that 16w21 has chosen to market their building utilizing Barbie and Ken like dolls photographed in an actual scale model of the building as opposed to computer-generated renderings. You have to appreciate the fact that the marketing folk at the building are thinking outside of the box, not to mention, the quirky and creative personality of the marketing is generating a substantial amount of buzz! The building is definitely designed for the young and creative crowd, and this is an audience who will appreciate 16w21 original efforts.

Features and Amenities
The Zac Posen interiors, which are sure to be drop dead gorgeous, are not to be ignored. In fact, they’re the selling point of the property. This doesn’t mean that the finishes aren’t top notch – they are. The 16w21 website reports that Posen has taken his design sense to the next level, coupling artisanal elements like deep pile velevet, white oak, custom glass and solid core doors with sleek Siberian white marble bathrooms and Miele and Sub-Zero kitchen fixtures.
