Keeping in step with our eyes on 10th Avenue, here comes another sizeable project in west Chelsea. The developer, Bishopscourt, is a brand new group that started in 2005, and have done only a few conversion project around downtown. However, the brothers have a solid background in finance and teamed up with Selldorf Architects. Selldorf is noted for their art-oriented work, which is highly appropriate for the art-intensive west side of Chelsea. Some critics have pointed out that, while Selldorf has done a remarkable job with individual homes (i.e. Wintour and Stawski) they have had difficulty with large, residential buildings. The obvious example would be the Urban Glass House, which did a bit of a belly-flop during sales. We’re hoping that their experience and expertise will shine through in this project. (more…)
