Overview
It looks like High Line Park isn’t the only site in the area undergoing redevelopment. In a project headed by Neil Denari (principal and founder Neil Denari Architects Inc. with a niche for innovative, technology driven architectural design), HL23 looks to become a modernized lavish low-rise that stands out in the constantly changing West Chelsea neighborhood. Interestingly, the project is directly side-by-side with another ‘trippy’ condo project trying to profit from the High Line Park project. The idea of this project is to create an architectural structure that both honors aspects of the old while being innovative. The building is 156 feet high and contains a total of 39,200 square feet. In keeping with the modern luxury motif of HL23, highly renowned architect Thomas Juul Hansen was called upon for the interior design. The exterior consists of a modern steel and glass façade integrated into a unique top-heavy shape. Some think it’s reminiscent of a space ship. Following suit with many other recent developments, the project is also seeking a LEED certified gold rating for using recycled building materials in order to create a structure that is environment-friendly. The project has been the subject of much excitement including historic architectural and landmark exhibitions throughout the New York area. With the completion of the project expected next year, HL23 is certain to change the residential standard in the High Line Park area.
