
Overview
I had the pleasure of meeting with Connie Byrne on Tuesday, sales director for The Gansevoort, a boutique condo project located in a little nook near Gansevoort & West Fourth streets in the West Village. It was a nice change of pace—floor through apartments in a private building with an intimate feel. Some of my readers may have noticed my bias towards large, amenity-driven spaces with soaring views and historic addresses. While these larger projects tend to soak up a lot of publicity, the smaller projects represent a growing trend among condo buyers—boutique buildings with a greater focus on privacy and exquisite finishes. The Gansevoort was a breath of fresh air. It should be noted that this project is not affiliated with the trendy Gansevoort Hotel, located just down the block. “Gansevoort Street” is a reference to the Gansevoort family, a New York political powerhouse in the late 18th century.
