V33 – 33 Vestry Street

Overview

Another parking lot in Manhattan bites the dust. Located on Vestry Street between Hudson and Greenwich Streets in Tribeca, this empty pit is at the very initial stages of rebuilding, as seen in the photos. The property, 33 Vestry Street, underwent rigorous architectural demands from C.B.1. and the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The result is an uber-luxury project with a unique architect/developer team. The developer is Charles Dunne, a New York City resident and former second fiddle to ImClone chief (and criminal) Sam Waksal. Dunne noticed the work of revered architect Winka Dubbeldam at 497 Greenwich Street and brought her firm, Archi-tectonics, onto the project. 33 Vestry will be an ultra-luxury 30,000 square foot structure with only seven apartments and an incredibly unique design. The façade will be set in random patterns of rare translucent stone, metal and glass, which will cause the building’s appearance to change based on where a person stands to look at it and how the light is hitting it.The tag line for this building is, “Minimalist architecture that maximizes the pleasures of urban life.” That will most definitely be the case if you are one of the lucky few to be able to afford a unit here. Of the seven units, two are triplex townhouses, four are full-floor residences and there is one incredible duplex penthouse with a private infinity pool. It’s all sort of crazy and beautiful in a boutique, Tribeca sort of way. The available units are shown by appointment only. Sales and marketing is being handled by Brown Harris Stevens and their newly formed ID Marketing Group, composed of former Corcoran brokers Wendy Maitland, Wilbur Gonzalez, Erin Aries, and Reid Price.
