Located on a charming tree-lined street in the heart of New York’s Greenwich Village, 130 West 12th Street will be launching sales in the late Fall with closings to begin in Spring 2012.  The developer, the Rudin Family, along with the renowned architect Cook + Fox, have created a rare opportunity to reside in an intimate prewar condominium in one of the city’s most sought-after neighborhoods.

The award-winning interior design firm of Jed Johnson Associates has designed the lobby with custom terrazzo floors and sleek cerused oak paneling with bronze accents, as well as the building’s graceful corridors and stunning model apartments. In addition, the artwork in the model apartments has been curated by Beth Rudin DeWoody.

Chelsea’s Carriage House Unveils Much Anticipated Art Exhibit With Korilla’s Korean BBQ Food Truck One of ‘Edible’ Stars of Show

Art and real estate merged with kimchi and beef bulgogi last week at Carriage House, Chelsea’s newest, and most coveted, boutique condominium.

The 24-unit Carriage House, located at 159 W. 24th Street (between Sixth and Seventh Avenues), hosted the opening night of its highly anticipated “Home Gallery Art Show” – the property’s first art exhibit – where 12 internationally acclaimed artists drew a large crowd inside. Outside, guests relished fare provided by Korilla’s BBQ tiger-striped food truck, famous for its appearance on the Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race.”

Carriage House developers Eamon Roche, Joshua Sacks and Eric Gray in front of the tiger-striped phenomenon, Korilla

“Carriage House is at the hub of one of Manhattan’s most dynamic neighborhoods,” said Eamon Roche of Broad Mill Development Group, the developer of Carriage House along with Eric Gray and Joshua Sacks. “Our building is a frontrunner amid conversion projects. For this event, we decided to think outside the box and offer our guests a unique evening – even the food was a work of art – it was that good!”

Developers of this exciting new residential conversion project – formerly a 19th century horse stable – joined forces with Raul Zamudio, a world renowned curator. Alongside reveling amid vibrant artwork, attendees received advice from Art Installation Design’s Tom Zoufaly about how to liven up blank walls by tastefully mounting paintings, photographs or even textiles.

“While selecting pieces for Carriage House, I made sure that the images highlighted the modern and luxurious feel of the property,” said Zamudio.

Works on display include art by Riiko Sakkinen, currently on show at the MOMA; Ruben Verdu, a Barcelona-based installation artist; Majeed Beenteha, who has been called the Iranian Helmut Newton; Mexico-born Erika Haarsch; Spanish artist Ferran Martin; photographers Dan Perrone and Claudia Baez; Emma Mccagg, who creates post-figurative paintings; native New Yorker Bob Rivera; Alejandro Diaz, who has exhibited at the MOMA; the acclaimed South Korean photographer Koh Sang Woo; and New York-based artist Paul Seftel.

Some of the best art on view were the homes themselves: Carriage House’s $3.6 million 649-square-foot duplex Penthouse B is a prime example, with two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, two terraces, a hot tub and gas grill. Equally impressive is Penthouse A – a 1,279-square-foot $2.75 million home featuring two bedrooms and two bathrooms, fireplace, sky lights and 512 square feet of outdoor space.

For eight upcoming weeks, the artists’ works will be displayed throughout six model units. Carriage House plans to have curated art shows on a rotating basis, using the condominiums as real gallery space.
