Plans have changed for this conversion project since we initiated coverage back in February. The conversion is well underway and the project will not include additional floors as we previously reported. The developer is Henry Justin of HJ Development, LLC (The Cass Gilbert, The Heywood and Parkwood), and the architect is Shamir Shah. The building will feature 17 layouts and the usual luxury finishes. 211 East 51st is a quaint midtown block between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.
As we mentioned, the building will maintain its brick facade and current 14-story layout. There will be a total of 73 homes with one-bedrooms ranging from 505 feet (up to 868 feet), two-beds averaging over 1,200 feet, and two penthouses oferring grand views and large private terraces. The sales director is AnneMarie Alexander. The building officially opened in March with prices ranging from $605K to $4.5M. Many units come in under $1M.
Features & Finishes
Kitchens will feature Calacatta Gold marble countertops, custom-made cabinetry and top of the line appliances including Bosch ranges and dishwashers, and Northland refrigerators. Bathrooms will have Bianco Dolomiti mosaic marble floors and Calacatta marble countertops. The custom vanities will feature Hansgrohe fixtures.

Amenities
There will be a 24/7 attended lobby, fitness center and resident’s lounge. The lower level of the building has an Okeanos Club/Spa which offers a full range of spa services along with steam rooms, baths, massages, facials, etc. It also has a popula vodka bar!
Location
The building is located on the north side of 51st Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. It’s a midtown location, near lots of huge office towers including the Citibank Building. Touching the building is Greenacre Park, a really neat urban garden with a zen-like feel complete with a waterfall and stream. While the Avenues are mostly large office towers, the side street contain co-op buildings, condos, scattered retail, and lots of restaurants and take-out spots. This particular block has a very eclectic feel to it with a mix of restaurants, a synangogue, and the Embassy of Papua New Guinea. We are fairly close to the United Nations district here as well.
